Discover What Courier Can and Cannot Send –
Thanks to a range of courier services available, nowadays, you can send anything you like. Whether it’s clothing, cosmetic products, leather goods, documents, electronic items such as laptops, photos, or anything else – you can send it across the country or the world.
Given that shipping laws may vary from one country to another, there are items that you can’t send through courier services. Some items are prohibited from shipping meaning that they can’t be transported from one country to another.
However, this depends on the government and its specific shipping laws so before sending something, you should check whether you’re allowed to ship that item in the first place. Our couriers won’t even accept your item if it’s on the list of banned or dangerous items.
Here’s a list of prohibited items:
- Live animals and animal trophies (for example, ivory or animal remains)
- Human remains (including ashes)
- Firearms, explosives, ammunition
- Precious stones
- Narcotics and other illegal goods
The above-mentioned list contains items that cannot be shipped, no matter how much you’re willing to pay and this applies globally. If you’re sending an item that you aren’t sure whether it can be shipped, you should ask the courier service you contacted. They should have a list of restricted or prohibited goods to follow so they’ll be able to give you an answer.
Some items are not exactly banned from shipping but are restricted. These include but are not limited to:
- Flammable liquids
- Flammable and non-flammable gas
- Toxic substances
- Biological agents
- Precious metals including silver, gold, and platinum
- Radioactive materials
- Lithium or anything containing lithium batteries
- Fresh food
- Tobacco products
- Medical devices
Aside from these restricted items, there are also dangerous items which include:
- Alcoholic beverages with a high percentage of alcohol (24%)
- Environmental waste
- Flammable liquids
- Flammable solids
- Flammable and non-flammable gases
- Biological substances
