With so much to do in Los Angeles this summer, let your friends at SMEX 24/7 Messenger Service narrow down the list for you by providing some of our favorite attractions.
1. Santa Monica Pier & Venice Beach
These neighboring attractions on LA’s Westside are a favorite place to spend a hot summer day. Take in the culture and street art of the Venice boardwalk and enjoy the food, attractions, and street performers that line the Santa Monica Pier day and night. Finish the night off with a drink atop one of Santa Monica and Venice’s many rooftop bars for the full SoCal experience.
2. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Universal Studios)
Opened in April 2016, the new Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood has already received rave reviews for its realistic recreations of the towering Hogwarts school and the snow-capped shops of Hogsmeade. Tourists and locals alike have been lining up to buy butterbeer, wands, and more.
3. Huntington Library and Gardens
For those who like art and culture, nothing beats a walk through the galleries, gardens, and winding pathways of the Huntington Library in Pasadena. The former residence of entrepreneur Henry Huntington, the Library and Gardens house many European art treasures, including Gainsborough’s Blue Boy. In addition, the famous Japanese Garden offers a beautiful and shady oasis from LA’s urban sprawl.
For LA locals, a favorite summertime activity is to grab a couple towels and beach chairs and head out to LA’s many outdoor movie screening venues. We particularly recommend Street Food Cinema screenings, a wonderful mashup of two SoCal favorites, street food and outdoor movies.
One of the more interesting new additions to LA’s cultural landscape this summer is the Dog Cafe in Silver Lake, a full service coffee shop with tons of furry friends running around for the patrons to play and mingle with. And the best part is, all the dogs in the cafe are available for adoption!
